The Bayou Classic 3016 Fryer Kit comes with everything you need to cook a hearty outdoor meal.  Whether you’re frying turkey for Thanksgiving or having people over for a seafood boil, this product will fit in perfectly.  Almost everyone who purchased this kit remarked on how juicy and great-tasting the turkey was, and even campers thought this was a great kit to take along on a trip.

Like other products made by Bayou Classic, the paint on the stand was an issue, but most users do admit that it is to be expected that paint would burn off in extremely high temperatures like those made by this fryer kit.  At least one reviewer said that they had used a better fryer kit in the past, but that it cost twice as much as this one.  Most reviewers say that the price tag of this kit is certainly worth it.

The majority of reviews for this kit were five stars, although there were many four star reviews as well.  Just a handful of people ranked this kit with one, two, or three stars.  Some turkey kits don’t include the extra fry pot and basket, so those items were certainly a bonus included in this kit that many people liked having, especially if they were campers or if they enjoyed cooking outdoors a lot.

Overall, this is a great turkey fryer kit that comes with all the pieces you need to get started and more.  Beginning turkey fryers will appreciate this kit because it gives them an idea of the tools they will need and actually includes them all in one kit.  Just bear in mind that you may have to hit up the hardware store to purchase screws that fit better than the ones provided in this kit.  Several people mentioned that the ones they received were the wrong size.

The original Garmin Legend GPS unit made its first appearance in 2001.   The Garmin eTrex Legend H (updated in 2009) is the new version of the original eTrex Legend.

Garmin eTrex Legend H - What the Reviews Say...

The original Garmin Legend GPS unit made its first appearance in 2001. This unit combines all features of the eTrex series and includes a full base map of North and South Americas with an additional 8MB of storage. The Legend H (updated in 2009) is the new version of the original eTrex Legend. Still considered one of the most versatile navigators available for outdoor adventures, the Legend H is not getting as many positive reviews as the original version.

Overall, the eTrex Legend has received 311 reviews that averaged 4.5 out of a five-star rating system. The eTrex H, which has only been out a couple of years has so far been reviewed twenty-one times for an average 3.7 on the five-star scale. In many cases, complaints of the newer version were first-time users of any GPS navigator, and they felt the manual (written in English and French) was of no help, the online website was confusing, and customer service was indifferent.

Some of the reviews commented on the eTrex line of GPS units that while they are popular because they are small and easy to use, they only last a few years. These users, however, also agreed that the Legend is still a bargain because it displays useful maps at a lower cost than other units of this type. In comparison of the Legend vs. the newer Legend H, the H model has gotten more criticism, but both devices are popular with a large majority of users. It may be a sign of the times where recent customers, fewer in number, are also more critical and more outspoken.

Many of the more complimentary users are familiar with Garmin products and eTrex navigation systems, and appreciate the product for what it is: a small, lightweight, handheld GPS with useful preloaded maps. Many complaints specific to the eTrex Legend H is that the display is dim and hard to read with out the backlight.

In some cases, users that previously owned the original Legend like the Legend H better for several reasons. The H has a USB port that is an improvement over the previous serial port on the original. The upgraded memory and larger screen are also nice additions. The Legend H has menus that are easy to follow. The reviews in these specific cases commented that they found both units to be sturdy and dependable with long, reliable battery life.

Similar to the original Legend, the eTrex Legend H is noted for preloaded maps of North and South America, the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, and memory for storage of additional maps. The Legend H receives signals from the WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System), popularly known for accurate positioning data and the eTrex H model is highly sensitive to receive locations in thick foliage or deep into canyons.

More happy customers also commented that the Legend H has a better antenna and finds satellites quicker, even inside heavy concrete structures. Garmin updated the interface on the Legend H and it is better than on the previous model, though still not 100%. Using the quick guide with the Legend H helps improve the interface capability. Adding maps from Garmin’s complete line of MapSource products is easier with the high-speed USB connection. The H model also has built-in tables that indicate the best times to fish and hunt.

Most users appreciate the one-year limited warranty that comes with the Legend H, however, some of the users had problems with Garmin’s customer service regarding the definition of “limited warranty” and what is included. This new model has added games, which has received mixed reviews. Younger people are impressed with the games, more serious hikers would have preferred a non-GPS compass as is found on the Legend HCx.

The eTrex Legend H is recommended as a simple recreational tool. It is not recommended for major construction projects, architecture, serious surveying tasks, or car navigation. While great for hiking, geocaching, running and cycling, the preloaded maps are not designed for providing critical information. Other products are designed for those purposes and a higher cost, however, for recreational use the Legend H is a great value for the price.

Summing up the reviews of Garmin’s eTrex Legend H found on Amazon.com, according to previous Garmin GPS users, this model is an upgrade to all previous eTrex models. Only six of the twenty-one reviews of the new H model were not satisfied with the product, most of these having technical difficulties with the functions and customer service, and finding the unit hard to read. The remaining fifteen of the twenty-one reviews found the newer version to be faster, more accurate, and the best price for their purposes.
